Happy 100th Day

We did a really neat activity for 100th day that I wanted to share with everyone. We gave each table of boys legos and they together  had to count 100 legos. Then as a group they had to build something out of these 100 legos. The boys loved this activity and so did I. It was a great way to get them working together. Their finished products were quite impressive!!!  I attached pictures at the top of what they built.

Winter weather prediction graph

For math yesterday I talked with the boys about the word prediction. Then I told them we were going to make a prediction graph of how many snow days they thought we would have this year. They got to draw a snow picture and then predict if they thought we would have 0-4 snow days. We then graphed their predictions on our shower curtain graphs. They love talking about snow and as you can see are certainly predicting some for Memphis this winter.

12-12-12

Today our class participated in the  blog event 12-12-12 on twitter on my co-teachers blog. Classes from all over the world will be participating in this all day long. The boys enjoyed coming up with various lists of their favorite things. We loved hearing what they have to say. If you have time today I would highly recommend getting your students involved in this global blogging event. Check out my boys list here....

Chrustmas Cards Around the World

This year we are participating in a Christmas card exchange with schools all over the world. We will be sending and receiving cards from all over the world. The theme of the card was snowglobes;so we made Memphis snowglobes to let others know more about our city. Here is a Smile Box collage I made of the boys making our cards.

My SK Elves

I love this time of year. I especially love decorating my classroom this time of year.  I decided this year since we would be having an elf on the shelf in our room we should make elves too for our walls too. I stole the idea off of Pinterest , but then tried to make it my own as much as possible. The boys were not given a pattern. They were just told they could dress their elves however they wanted. I think they did a great job!!!

Leaf walk

We took the boys on a leaf walk last week to look at all of the trees changing colors. The boys loved being in the fresh air, and made some great observations about the leaves. It was a perfect time for a picture too; so I thought I would share that too:)

Apple Bulletin Board

Well I am back from my blogging hiatus and wanted to share my latest bulletin board. We have been studying apples for the month; so I went with an apple theme for my board. The tree is really easy to make. All you need to do is get some poster board and cut out a tree shape. Then get lots of green tissue paper and get to work. If you want to have your students help go for it!!! I plan on saving this tree and using it for years. Have a great day!!!
